I Luv employee gabusmaximus is nostalgic for an Austin he never knew with the film SLACKER

It's hard to believe this movie is 19 years old. I see attractive young women coming into the store that were born the year this movie came out. And it's a bit boggling to see attractive young ladies that were born in 1991.

forgive my digression.
anyway, the Austin portrayed in this movie is long gone. I moved here in the fall of 1999. The Austin I moved to wasn't the sleepy little weirds-ville that takes place in this movie, but it was a hell of alot closer than it is now. The first year I lived here, and I didn't know the city at all in the first year, but i would wander around and stumble into little neighborhoods and get the impression of the desolate late 80's weirdness that was Slacker-era Austin. Not anymore. But that's ok. Sunrise/Sunset.
