GREAT NEWS FOR POLISH FILM FANS,
APS MOVIE NIGHT ENTHUSIASTS & FRIENDS!!!
The Austin Polish Society is very excited to announce a new venue, time, and format for our FREE monthly movie nights. I Luv Video will play host to the series on the first Sunday of each month at The United States Art Authority, 2908 Fruth Street (just north of Spider House). The films will start at 4 p.m. with drinks available in the USAA & food available at Spider House Cafe.
This coming Friday, February 1st, we are screening two films from renowned Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi, as a prelude to his visit in Austin later in the month (more details on this as they become available). The films being shown this Sunday are:
A 10-minute short film, Holden (Zanussi, 1961)
& A contemporary feature film by the director, Persona non grata (2005, 127 minutes):
The expression "persona non grata" takes on multiple meanings in this tense psychological drama unfolding in the high stakes & morally dangerous world of international diplomacy. The complicated relationship between Poland & Russia plays out in a series of revealing subplots. The film won the Jury Prize & Best Supporting Actor (for Nikita Mikhalkov) at the Gdynia Film Festival. Come enjoy the movies, drinks, food & lively company.
