 DVD Re-Issue of the Week
The Perfume of Yvonne
(D: Patrice Leconte, 1994)
Leconte's (Monsieur Hire, Girl on the Bridge) The Perfume of Yvonne is a tingling erotic homage to the best work of Tinto Brass, Jesus Franco & Radley Metzger, a sumptuous period piece that dabbles in politics, literature & art, but revels deliriously in desire. It's intellectual pornography (ala Georges Bataille or Alberto Moravia) of the first order...

Movie of the Week

Fanboys (2008, D: Kyle Newman)

A great trip back in time to the yesteryear of 1998, Chumbawamba at the party and nerds getting excited about The Phantom Menace about to come out. Much like Detroit Rock City (which also stars Sam Huntington), it's a wild cross-country romp revolving around a pop-culture icon of the 1970's. It's pretty funny and you should check it out.

The Room (D: Tommy Wiseau, 2003)

While not technically a new release, we just found out about this movie, thanks to Tim & Eric. It makes Plan 9 From Outer Space look like Citizen Kane . You really should see it, we have copies available at both stores!

Movie of the week 5-04-09

Martyrs (D: Pascal Laugier, 2008)

Pascal Laugier's Martyrs takes the entire horror film genre to a new level, and further proves that France is in the middle of the horror film renaissance. This isn't a film for the weak-willed, but if you can make it all the way to the end, you won't stop thinking about it for weeks. Are you tough enough to handle Martyrs?

 Movie of the Week 04-14-09

American Swing (Jon Hart, Matthew Kaufman, 2008)

The legendary NYC sex club Plato's Retreat took 60s Flower Power Free Love, spiked it with cocaine, revved it up with disco & treated precious bodily fluids like eggshell latex primer & this entertaining, spendidly icky, documentary is about as close to the club's fabled, louse & celebrity-infested mattress room as you'd want to get without a hazmat suit...

Movie of the Week 04-14-09

Splinter (Toby Wilkins, 2008)

An ingenious, wildly inventive little monster movie about four mismatched travellers trapped in a rural convenience store by a spiny, bodysnatching parasite. The fine folks at Magnet Video strike again...
