Phase IV (1974)

Legendary title sequence creator Saul Bass created quite the buzz when it was announced he was directing his first feature film. The professional filmmaking cocktail set must have been quite baffled when exiting Phase IV - a full blown and slightly psychedelic nature revolts exploitation extravaganza. Ants gain a collective cosmic killdozery consciousness and leap frog Humans on the evolutionary scale. Beautiful art direction mixed nicely with total balls out 70's style high grade psychotronica. An all time Hex favorite. Bass' first film was sadly his last, but we raise the glass high in commendation for his rebellious and awesome effort!

Margheriti strikes again!!!! Commonly referred to as the "Best Movie Ever!!!!"...at least in the circles we travel in...truly the most epic defining Science Fiction, Time Travel, Cave Man, Sword & Sandal, Dinosaur piece ever contemplated and put to film…actually edited together from an entire series - which explains its ability outdo itself every 3 freakin' minutes and leave you exhausted as though you traveled time yourself and packed in a life time of experiences in 90 minutes. This also answers that burning question: “What IF Steve Austin had left Earth with the Sasquatch”...well, sort of…thank you, Antonio Marhgeriti. BEST MOVIE EVER!!!

Angeli Bianchi...Angeli Neri is another fine Italian Mondo style film with perhaps a little less shockumentary and a little more mockumentary than many. This one covers Satanism, witchcraft and occult rituals from arround the globe. Some might say that Scattini seems to have a penchant for getting nude nubiles in front of the lens as they appear in nearly every segement but c'mon...isn't that what true Satanism is all about?...if a Black Mass in 1970 doesn't have a few naked chicks you might as well be having a tea party with Emily fucking Post. Some notable scenes include a Satanic marriage at Anton LaVey's infamous "Black House" and a horribly dubbed hippy cult that worships pot. Hail Satan!

Bare Knuckles (1977)

IIlsa director Don Edmonds brings us some sweet 70's grindhouse action!! Unsung B-movie powerhouse Robert Viharo brings down the house as bounty hunter Zachary Kane in this gritty urban street fighter epic. Sometimes other people just manage to say it best: from IMDB:

"A bounty hunter in Los Angeles sets out to track down and stop a masked serial killer who murders women by using kung-fu moves."

That's pretty much all you need to know. Just let us add that the action, music, scenery and tone are just about perfect! It's Seedy, it's 70's and it totally and completely delivers the goods. Make sure the popcorn is hot and the beer is cold because "Zack and Black--Manhunters...Back to Back!"
